Description
St Just Mining District (UNESCO) is a fascinating mining area listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic region is famous for its dramatic remains of tin and copper mines, dating mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Most iconic are the Crowns engine house buildings at the Botallack mine, picturesquely suspended from the cliffs. Walking the Southwest Coast Trail, you'll discover breathtaking views of the rugged coastline and remnants of mining infrastructure.
Also visit the Geevor Mine, where you can go underground and learn about the lives of the miners of old, and the Levant Mine with its restored steam engine.
