Description
Barranco de Fataga is a picturesque gorge in Gran Canaria, known as the 'Valley of a Thousand Palms' because of the lush palm groves that grow along the riverbed.
It is a place of extraordinary historical significance - it was one of the last bastions of resistance of the indigenous Canary Islanders against the Spanish invasion.
It offers breathtaking views of steep cliffs, fascinating rock formations and diverse vegetation. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the numerous hiking and biking trails of varying difficulty, while history enthusiasts can explore the nearby Arteara necropolis, the largest Aboriginal cemetery on the island.
