Ljubljana Castle Funicular

The Ljubljana Castle cable car is a modern means of transportation connecting the old town with the impressive castle. Designed by Ambient studio, it was awarded the Gold Medal for Industrial Design at the 21st Industrial Design Biennale in Ljubljana.

Traveling by train is not only a convenient way to reach the top, but also an unforgettable experience with panoramic views of the city. Covering 117 meters of the route and 70 meters of height difference, passengers can enjoy a picturesque panorama of the Slovenian capital.

The idea for the cable car dates back to 1897, but it was not realized until 2006, with the renovation of the castle.
