Description
San Sabba Rice Mill National Monument and Museum is a unique memorial in Trieste that hides the dark history of World War II.
Originally built in 1898 as a rice mill, the site was transformed by the Nazis into a police camp where political prisoners, partisans and Jews were held and eliminated.
Today the museum presents a permanent historical exhibition, a library and moving testimonies of suffering. The Hall of Crosses displays goods stolen from Trieste's Jews, and the Museum Room contains objects and documents donated by former prisoners.
