Description
Salinas de Fuencaliente is a unique attraction on the southern tip of the island of La Palma. Operating since 1967, the salt terraces create a magical landscape where the deep black of volcanic lava contrasts with the intense blue of the ocean and the white and pink of the salt pans.
The name 'Fuencaliente' refers to the hot springs destroyed by lava in the 18th century. An eruption of the Teneguía volcano in 1971 interrupted salt production, but led to the creation of a new type of salt - Sal Marina Teneguía.
The local restaurant El Jardín De La Sal offers delicious food with panoramic views of the sea and salt pans.
