Description

The rose garden at the New Residence in Bamberg is a true gem among European gardens. Designed by Balthasar Neumann in the 18th century, it impresses with its symmetrical layout and more than 4,500 roses in 70 different beds, creating a veritable sea of color and fragrance in summer.

In the center of the garden is a circular fountain, and the entire garden is decorated with sculptures by Ferdinand Tietz from 1760-61. The garden pavilion, completed in 1757, offers a picturesque view of Bamberg's historic center, including the Michaelsberg Hill and the Old Town.
