Description
The Stone Gate in Zagreb is one of the best-preserved medieval monuments in the Croatian capital, dating back to the 13th century.
This rectangular building with a tower and a tented roof conceals a fascinating legend - an image of the Virgin Mary miraculously survived in a fire in 1731, making the gate a place of worship and prayer.
Today's appearance of the gate dates back to the 18th century, although over the centuries it has served various functions - from a school to a library. While strolling through the Upper Town, be sure to stop by this unique witness to Zagreb's history.
