Lobo - Woodcarving

Lobo - Woodcarving is a unique art attraction in the picturesque Furnas area of Portugal. Carvings by French artist Emmanuel Courtot, who specializes in chainsaw carving, adorn both dead and living tree trunks, mainly cedars and acacias.

Each carving is protected with linseed oil and xylophene, which protects them from insects and weathering. Of particular interest is the fact that the use of acacia, an invasive species that causes environmental problems, gives the project an ecological dimension, in keeping with the principles of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism.
