Trilho - Rota da Água - Janela do Inferno

Trilho - Rota da Água - Janela do Inferno is a fascinating hiking trail on the island of São Miguel in the Azores.

This 7.6 km route of easy to moderate difficulty takes you through historic aqueducts that once transported water to Fábrica do Álcool in Lagoa.

The main attraction is the Janela do Inferno, a vertical wall with a natural cave and a small lagoon at its base. During the hike, you'll pass through tunnels (it's worth bringing a flashlight!) and admire unique landscapes shaped by eruptions of the Água de Pau volcano 15,000 years ago.

This is the perfect place for a 2-3 hour adventure amidst wildlife and historical sites.
