Description
Reserva Natural do Pico da Vara is the highest point on the island of São Miguel in the Azores, rising to 1103 meters above sea level.
This unique nature reserve offers a spectacular 7-kilometer hiking trail with panoramic views of the island's north and south coasts, the Povoação caldera and Furnas volcano.
During the 3-hour hike through endemic vegetation, you'll also discover two touching memorials commemorating 1940s plane crashes. An ideal destination for experienced hikers looking for a challenge and unforgettable scenery.
