Description
Pico da Vara is the highest peak on the island of São Miguel in the Azores, rising 1103 meters above sea level. It offers breathtaking views of the entire island, including the north and south coasts and the Furnas and Lagoa do Fogo volcanoes.
The 7-kilometer trail takes you through the island's largest laurel forest, home to the endangered Azorean scaly. This unique ecosystem provides a lush and diverse environment for exploration.
At the summit are two memorials commemorating the 1943 and 1949 plane crashes, adding a touching touch to the hike.
