Description
Porth Hellick Down Burial Chamber is an impressive prehistoric Bronze Age tomb located on the island of St Mary's in the Scilly archipelago.
This unique structure consists of a nearly circular mound about 12 meters in diameter and up to 1.6 meters high, surrounded by stone slabs. Inside is a rectangular burial chamber 3.5 meters long, covered by four massive slabs.
A unique feature of this monument is the unusual angle of the passage and chamber in relation to each other. It is one of the best preserved examples of passage tombs, characteristic only of the Isles of Scilly and western Cornwall.
