Description
Palazzo della Carovana is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture in the heart of Pisa, designed by Giorgio Vasari between 1562 and 1564 as the headquarters of the Knights of St. Stephen.
The palace's façade is resplendent with rich sgraffito with allegorical figures and signs of the zodiac, while inside there is a monumental staircase and the famous Hall of the Nine with Vasari's frescoes.
Today the building houses the prestigious Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa university, combining historical splendor with intellectual rigor. Walking around Piazza dei Cavalieri, one can admire this symbol of the Medici family's power and the importance of education in shaping modern Italy.
