Description
Our Lord in the Attic Museum (Former Hidden Catholic Church) is a fascinating 17th century monument hidden in the attic of a canal-side building in Amsterdam. This secret Catholic church was built at a time when Catholics could not openly practice their faith.
The interior is stunning with Baroque altarpieces, including Jacob de Wit's masterpiece 'Baptism of Christ'. Its unique architecture with narrow spiral staircases and two-story balconies allowed it to accommodate more worshippers.
It is one of the best preserved sites of its kind in the Netherlands, awarded the European Heritage Mark in 2024. The museum also offers interactive experiences for families with children.
