Description
The Al-Alam Palace is the ceremonial residence of the Sultan of Oman and is one of Muscat's most photographed landmarks.
It is distinguished by its spectacular gold and blue facade and unique architectural design. Strategically located between two Portuguese forts (Al Jalali and Mirani), the palace reflects Oman's rich royal heritage and architectural craftsmanship.
Originally known as 'Bait Al-Alam' (House of the Flag), it was rebuilt as a royal residence in 1972. Despite its historical significance, it reflects the country's modest and humble traditions.
