Description
St. Nikolaus-Hospital / Cusanusstift is a unique monastery complex in the late Gothic style, founded in 1465 by Nikolaus von Kues. Originally serving as a hospital for the poor, today it functions as a retirement home.
The complex includes a medieval cloister, a Gothic chapel with a star vault supported by a single pillar, and a library with a unique collection of 314 Latin manuscripts. The chapel holds the founder's heart.
The site combines a rich history with the wine culture of the Moselle region - it was originally part of a vineyard and still maintains these traditions.
