Kloster Reichenstein

Closter Reichenstein is a former Premonstratensian monastery dating back to the 12th century, located on a rocky plateau at the mouth of the Rur River. This historic complex encompasses more than 32 hectares of forest and a fishing pond, offering an unusual combination of spirituality and nature.

For more than 600 years, the monastery has been the center of Christian life in the Monschau region, providing pastoral care, education and hospitality. The quadrangle courtyard and the walls of the monastery's 1693 church delight architecture lovers.

The surrounding grounds, including the 'High Wenny' nature park and the Klosterroute hiking trail, attract nature and hiking enthusiasts.
