Burg Ardeck

Burg Ardeck is a picturesque medieval castle from the 14th century located on the Aar River in Holzheim. Erected by the Counts of Diez-Nassau, this Gothic fortification impresses with its historic architecture and picturesque ruins.

Although the castle fell into ruins in the 18th century, it still impresses with its well-preserved tower and fragments of fortified walls. Every two years (in odd-numbered years), the Ardeck Castle Festival is held here with colorful performances on one of the largest amateur theater stages in Rhineland-Palatinate.
