Description
Bamberg Castle (Altenburg) is a medieval fortress with a fascinating history dating back to 1109. The only surviving medieval structure is a 33-meter-tall watchtower from the 13th century, from which fire signals were once sent to Giechburg Castle, 20 km away.
After being almost completely destroyed in 1553, the castle was rebuilt and even served as a prison. Today it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the town of Bishop and the surrounding countryside. It is an ideal destination for lovers of history and medieval architecture.
