Description
Donauquelle is a fascinating place in the Black Forest that marks the scientific source of the Danube River. There is a distinctive bronze statue of the river god Danuvius, who watches over the beginning of one of Europe's most important rivers.
Next to the monument, you can admire the circular pool designed according to Adolf Weinbrenner's 1875 design, as well as symbolic sculptures of 'Mother Baar' showing the way to her 'daughter' - the young Danube.
It is an ideal place for nature, history and geography lovers, combining educational values with the scenic beauty of the Black Forest.
