Description
De Gekroonde Poelenburg is a unique lumber windmill of the paltrok type, the last of its kind built in the Zaan region in 1866. It is characterized by its unusual shape and light green color, resembling a sleeveless cape, from which the type of structure is named.
During the 2004 renovation, the original color scheme and design were restored. The windmill has a working deck that is open on three sides, allowing the picturesque painted frame saws to be seen.
As part of the Zaanse Schans complex, it is an important part of the Dutch industrial heritage and is listed as a National Monument.
