Description
Qurum Natural Reserve is Oman's first natural reserve, established in 1975. This unique coastal wetland ecosystem encompasses mangrove forest, beaches and sand dunes, providing a home to incredible biodiversity.
The reserve protects 194 species of birds, including those migrating from Africa and Russia, making it a paradise for birders and photographers.
In addition to its natural values, the site has archaeological significance - traces of Stone Age people from 6,000 years ago who harvested oysters from the mangroves have been found here.
