Description
National Trust - Carlyle's House is a unique museum that is the former home of Scottish philosopher and historian Thomas Carlyle and his wife Jane. This 1834 Victorian house has preserved the original decor and personal items of the couple, offering a fascinating journey back in time to 19th century London.
The interior conceals authentic furniture, books and artwork, including portraits by James Whistler. Of particular interest is the parlor on the first floor and the library on the second floor, where Carlyle created his works.
