Description
The Caldera de Taburiente National Park is a geological wonder on the island of La Palma. This huge caldera, 10 kilometers in diameter, was formed not by a volcanic eruption, but by landslides and erosion, creating a spectacular depression surrounded by walls up to 2,000 meters high.
The park is famous for its lush forests of Canary Island pine, endemic plant and bird species. It is also the site of the last resistance of the indigenous Benahoarites of the Canary Islands during the Spanish conquest in the 15th century.
Numerous hiking trails lead through picturesque landscapes, offering unforgettable views and contact with wildlife.
