Description
The East Teutoburg Forest is Germany's largest nature park, covering 2,700 square kilometers of scenic land.
It's a place full of history - you'll find the famous Hermannsdenkmal monument commemorating the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest and numerous castles, including Sparrenberg in Bielefeld.
The park is famous for its unique natural resources - thermal springs, peat bogs and numerous spas. An extensive network of hiking and biking trails leads through lush beech forests, where you can look out for rare species like the black stork and the skittish wildcat - the park's mascot.
