Description
The National Archaeological Museum of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is a true treasure trove of history, founded in 1892 and opened to the public in 1905. The museum is housed in the former Ottoman Koca Mahmut Paşa Camii Mosque, which adds to its unique character.
The rich collection includes fascinating artifacts from prehistory, antiquity and the Middle Ages that trace the material and spiritual culture of the peoples who inhabited the Bulgarian territory from the earliest times until the 18th century.
It is not only an exhibition site, but also an important center for archaeological research, where lectures and scientific seminars are regularly held.
