Description
Le Palais de l'Île is a fascinating monument dating back to the 12th century, located on a small island in the Thiou River in Annecy. This triangular building, resembling the prow of a ship, has served a variety of functions over the centuries - from the seat of the ruler, to a prison, a mint and a court.
Today it houses the Center for Interpretation of Architecture and Heritage, where you can learn about the history of the region through interesting exhibitions. The unique architecture and picturesque canal setting make this place one of the most photographed spots in the city.
For lovers of history and architecture, this is a real treat, and a stroll through the surrounding old town will complete the experience of this magical place.
