Description
The Diocesan Museum (Palazzo Borgia) is a veritable treasure trove of medieval and modern sacred art. It is housed in a historic building combining two Renaissance palaces, including the residence of Cardinal Borgia, later Pope Alexander VI.
The museum houses an impressive collection of artworks, including famous paintings by Pietro Lorenzetti, Bartolo di Fredi and Luca Signorelli. Particularly noteworthy is the Capa Pius II, a liturgical garment decorated with 27 scenes from the life of Mary, showcasing the English craftsmanship and enlightened personality of Pope Pius II.
This is a place that will delight any lover of art and history.
