Description
The Gion Kagai Art Museum is a unique place dedicated to the fascinating world of geiko (fully trained female artists) and maiko (students) in the heart of Kyoto's historic Gion district.
The museum is housed in the 1913 Yasaka Club building, which is a national cultural heritage site. Here you can admire hand-painted Yuzen kimonos, Nishijin silk obi, seasonal kanzashi hair ornaments and personal items used by maiko.
Additional attractions include traditional Inoue-style dance demonstrations and the opportunity to take souvenir photos with real geiko and maiko.
