Description
Museo Insular de La Palma is a fascinating museum housed in a historic 16th century Franciscan monastery.
Unique displays include ethnography, natural sciences and fine arts, from Guanchen skulls and stuffed birds to an impressive collection of shells and corals. The Orange Courtyard, where some trees were planted by European leaders at the opening of the European Northern Observatory in 1985, adds to the site's charm.
The historic interiors with courtyards and large balconies are an excellent example of Canarian architecture, creating a tranquil atmosphere ideal for exploring the island's cultural heritage.
