Description
Mura e Torri di Serravalle is a fascinating monument of medieval fortifications in Vittorio Veneto. Dating back to the 12th-13th centuries, these historic walls and towers played a strategic role in the battles between Lucca and Pistoia.
The highest point of the hill, where there is a solitary tower built in 1140, offers a picturesque view of the Crevada Valley. Also noteworthy is a small chapel with 14th-century frescoes.
The site is associated with the legend of Saint Lodovico, who is said to have saved Serravalle from attack - his feast day has been celebrated on August 19 for more than seven centuries.
