Description

St Mary the Virgin Church is a historic 12th century church that impresses with its flint architecture and rich history.

Inside you can admire impressive memorabilia, including a Saxon baptismal font older than the Norman Conquest, a stone Saxon sarcophagus and a beautifully carved oak Wolsey altarpiece from the 16th century.

Also a peculiarity is the magnificent Jacobin-style monument dedicated to the family of Sir Cope D'Oyley and the marble monument to William Perry in the north aisle. Stained glass windows commemorating the Parry family add a mystical touch to the place.
