Cruz De Axitla. Tepoztlán is a historic site that is the gateway to the famous archaeological site of Tepozteco. It was here that the Spanish colonizers baptized the local inhabitants - you can still see the baptismal font and an ancient tree remembering those times.
The site begins a scenic, albeit challenging 2-kilometer trail leading to the Tepozteco temple, rising 595 meters above the level of the town. The difficulty of the climb is rewarded by breathtaking views of the town and the Cuernavaca Valley.
