Description
Menlo Castle is the fascinating ruins of a 16th century castle located on the banks of the River Corrib near the village of Menlo in County Galway.
For more than 300 years the castle was home to the Blake family, one of Galway's fourteen tribes, known for their wealth and hospitality. They held wonderful events here, including the 'Maying in Menlo' festival with music and dancing.
A tragic fire in 1910 destroyed the structure, leaving only ivy-covered walls, which today form a picturesque backdrop. It's the perfect place for lovers of history, photography and romantic landscapes.
