Description
Sverd i fjell is a monumental monument located in the picturesque bay of Hafrsfjord. Three mighty bronze swords, hammered into solid rock, symbolize peace, unity and freedom.
This impressive monument commemorates the 872 battle that led to the unification of Norway under King Harald the Beautiful. The largest sword symbolizes the king himself, while the two smaller ones symbolize the defeated chieftains.
The surroundings of the monument offer beautiful views of the bay and opportunities for walking, biking or swimming at nearby beaches. It is an ideal place for lovers of history, Viking culture and those who appreciate unusual landscapes.
