Description
Tō-ji is one of the most important Buddhist temples in Kyoto and is a true gem of Japanese sacred architecture. This historic temple impresses with its five-story pagoda, which is the tallest wooden tower in Japan and is a distinctive feature of the city skyline.
The interior of the complex conceals an impressive collection of Buddhist statues, and the gardens surrounding the temple invite contemplation and tranquility. It is particularly beautiful in spring, when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, and in autumn, when the leaves shimmer red and gold.
