Description
Lifta is a fascinating Palestinian village on the outskirts of Jerusalem that dates back more than 1,000 years. Called the 'Palestinian Pompeii' because of its perfectly preserved condition despite its abandonment.
It impresses with its unique architectural remains, including a mosque, olive presses, wine presses and other structures reflecting its rich history. The site is identified with the biblical Mey Naftoah.
For nature lovers, Lifta offers lush trails, rare flora and fauna and a natural spring in which to take a dip. It is a unique oasis of tranquility and history in one place.
