Description
Torre Cesarea is a majestic watchtower dating back to the 16th century and is the historical jewel of Porto Cesareo. This imposing square-shaped structure rises to a height of 16 meters and its walls reach 4 meters thick.
Built in 1568 by Virgilio Pugliese and rebuilt in 1622, the tower served as a defense against pirate and Turkish incursions. Today it houses the headquarters of the Guardia di Finanza, but remains a popular tourist attraction.
The observation deck offers breathtaking views of the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea and the picturesque coastline. It is the perfect place for history, architecture and photography lovers.
