Description
Resti del Castello Sant'Uberto is the fascinating ruins of a medieval fortress, also known as Castello di Botestagno. This historic structure, which dates back to the 8th century, played a key role in the defense of the Cortina d'Ampezzo region.
Today you can admire the remains of the cellars and foundations, a reminder of the strategic importance of the castle that controlled the three converging valleys of Boite, Val di Fanes and Val Felizon.
It is interesting to note that the fortress was once governed by Gregorio Vecellio, father of the famous painter Titian. The site offers breathtaking views of the Ampezzo Valley.
