Description
Forte di Fortezza is an impressive fortress built between 1833 and 1838 during the reign of Ferdinand I of Austria. This historic maze of corridors, staircases and chambers stretches over 20 hectares and conceals a 433-foot staircase carved into the rock.
The fortress combines military history with modern art. Here you can see the permanent exhibition 'Bunkerd. Bunkers in South Tyrol' and temporary art exhibitions.
The place delights both history buffs and modern art lovers. An excellent destination for families and military architecture enthusiasts.
