Description
Chiesa dei Santo Filippo e Giacomo - Complesso Museale dell'Arte della Seta is a Renaissance Catholic church in Naples associated with the history of the silk industry.
Built in 1591 on behalf of the Guild of Silk Merchants, Weavers and Dyers, it conceals extraordinary art treasures, including 16th-century frescoes depicting St. Philip, St. Jerome and St. Gregory the Great, which are currently undergoing restoration.
The museum complex also includes secret places: An 18th-century Neapolitan sacristy and a crypt where members of the Silk Corporation were buried. It is a fascinating combination of spirituality and Naples' industrial heritage.
