Description
Kwun Yam Shan Ling Wan Monastery is the oldest monastery in Hong Kong, built in 1840. Dedicated to Kwun Yam, the Goddess of Mercy, it delights visitors with intricate brass carvings over the entrance and unique architecture.
The temple combines elements of Buddhism, Taoism and Chinese folklore to offer a peaceful space for contemplation. After recent renovations, it gained distinctive orange metal railings and a yellow canopy with Buddhist swastika symbols.
Kwun Yam's history of sacrifice and transformation makes it a unique spot on Hong Kong's cultural map.
