Description
SAN MARCIAL DEL RUBICÓN P5 is a fascinating historical monument, considered the first European settlement in the Canary Islands. Founded by the Norman baron Jehan IV de Béthencourt in 1404, it marks the beginning of European colonization of the archipelago.
The archaeological park offers a glimpse of 15th-century architecture - you can see a tower, necropolises, a factory and a system of wells connecting rainwater from Los Ajaches with seeping seawater. The site is a veritable treasure trove of knowledge about the settlement techniques later used during the conquest of the Americas.
