Description
Torre de Lucano is a medieval clock tower dating back to the 14th century and is one of the most distinctive landmarks of the Portuguese village of Monsanto.
At the top of the tower is a replica of a silver rooster - a trophy awarded to Monsanto in 1938, when it was named 'most Portuguese village'.
The tower once served as a watchtower, protecting residents from threats. Today it provides an excellent vantage point for viewing the village's unique granite houses and picturesque narrow streets.
