Description
The Rookery Building is one of the oldest skyscrapers in Chicago, and is a true architectural gem of the late 19th century.
Built in 1888, it combines elements of Romanesque, Moorish and Byzantine styles to create a unique architectural composition.
The building's interior was renovated in 1905 by the famous Frank Lloyd Wright, who covered the original cast-iron finishes with white Carrara marble. Particularly impressive is the light courtyard - one of the most dramatic interiors designed by Wright.
