Aalborg Kloster

Aalborg Kloster is a fascinating historical monument dating back to 1431, when it was founded by Lady Maren Hemmingsdatter.

This medieval monastery, built in the late Gothic brick style, originally served as a hospital for the sick and poor, and later became part of the Order of the Holy Spirit, specializing in the care of lepers.

The beautiful interiors feature magnificent frescoes on the vault of the Chapter Hall. After the Reformation, the monastery continued to function as a hospital until 1953, and now houses a retirement home and exhibition halls.
