Description
St Breock Downs Monolith is the largest and heaviest prehistoric standing stone in Cornwall, weighing approximately 16.5 tons. Dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age (c. 2500-1500 BC), this impressive monolith towers majestically in the hills of St Breock Downs.
Made of local Devonian slate with distinctive veins of feldspar, the stone offers a fascinating glimpse into the region's prehistoric past. It was originally 16 feet high, but toppled over in 1945 and was re-erected in 1956.
The mysterious site offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and the Atlantic Ocean.
