Dunlewey Church abandoned

Dunlewey Church abandoned is a captivating 1853 church ruin located at the foot of Mount Errigal overlooking Dunlewey Lough.

Built of local white marble and blue quartzite, with red brick in the arches of the windows, it impresses with its Gothic architecture and elaborate stone detailing.

It is an ideal destination for photographers, history and nature lovers. The church was erected as a memorial to James Russell, a wealthy hop merchant and local landowner who died in 1848.
