Description
The Abduction of Europa is a monumental sculpture in the port of Agios Nikolaos, depicting the ancient myth of Zeus, who took the form of a white bull to abduct the Phoenician princess Europa to Crete.
Created by the Sotiriades brothers in 2012, the work depicts Europa sitting on the bull, holding a globe and a dove—symbols of strength and lyricism. It is Crete's gift to Europe, commemorating the legend that gave the continent its name.
An ideal place for lovers of mythology and ancient history, connecting with the nearby Palace of Knossos and other traces of King Minos.
