Description
Jüdisches Kulturmuseum Veitshöchheim is a unique place dedicated to the culture and history of the Jewish community in northern Bavaria.
The museum is housed in a complex that includes a Baroque synagogue dating back to 1730, an 18th-century residential building and a Genizah, a treasure trove of historical texts and everyday objects.
The permanent exhibition 'Location Village' presents the daily life of Franconian Jews from the 17th to the 20th centuries. Of particular interest is the fact that the synagogue, turned into a fire station during Nazism, was restored and returned to its original function in 1986.
